Business expense tracker for Canada — T2125

Capture and organize self-employed business receipts by activity and T2125 expense category. Dossier works on Android, iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Keep business receipts with the activity they belong to

A client lunch, a software invoice, a fuel receipt: each needs more context than a total in a bank feed. Dossier keeps the original document with the details read on your device, your corrections, and the business activity you assign it to. Use it throughout the year so the evidence is together when you prepare your return.

From a receipt to an organized business expense

Capture a receipt on your phone or import a photo or PDF. Review the vendor, date, total and any tax shown. Choose the business activity and review the suggested T2125 expense category. If a document is missing information, keep the open question with the document rather than treating an automatic suggestion as a final deduction.

Built around T2125 expense categories

Self-employed Canadians use Form T2125 to report business or professional activities. Dossier organizes supporting receipts into categories such as advertising, office expenses, insurance and professional fees. It keeps separate activities distinct. The amount you can deduct, any personal-use allocation, and current-versus-capital treatment are decisions for filing time; capturing a receipt does not settle them.

Working from home or using a vehicle

A utility bill or fuel receipt is only part of the record. The current Guide explains business-use-of-home expenses, vehicle records and the role of a logbook. Keep the supporting records alongside the expense. Dossier’s business folders organize evidence; they are not a promise that every cost qualifies.

Review the year and export the originals

Keep business documents distinct from personal T1 receipts and rental property expenses. Review outstanding questions, then export the year’s organized data and originals for your filing workflow. Dossier does not calculate your final return or submit a T2125 to the CRA.
