Electronic Renaissance Inc. · Effective October 31, 2026

The short version: documents are read on your device. Cloud storage uses your own Apple or Google account. We receive correspondence you send us; details are below.

Electronic Renaissance Inc. (“we”, “us”) is a Canadian corporation. This policy explains how we handle personal information in connection with the Dossier app and this website, in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.

1. The Dossier app

Dossier organizes documents on your device. No Dossier account is required.

  • Local reading. Apple devices use Vision and extraction rules, with Apple Intelligence where available. Android uses ML Kit text recognition and extraction rules. We do not receive your documents to read them.
  • Storage. Documents are stored locally. On Apple devices, iCloud can sync them in your Apple Account's private database. On Android, Google Drive backup uses your Google account. Those services are governed by their providers' terms and privacy policies; we do not operate a document server.
  • Platform services. Cloud features require the corresponding Apple or Google account. Android uses Google components for reading and Drive access. This release has no advertising or custom Dossier analytics. Providers apply their own policies to account and service data.
  • Free release. The launch version has no subscription or in-app purchases.
  • Deletion. Use Dossier's erase feature to remove local and applicable cloud data as described in its confirmation. Uninstalling the app does not necessarily remove cloud copies. Exported archives remain under your control.

2. Data residency

Apple and Google determine where data entrusted to iCloud and Google Drive is stored. We do not guarantee Canadian data residency. Review Apple's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy. Dossier also works with local storage.

3. This website

This site is static. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads no third-party resources. The only record of your visit is standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP address and browser type) generated by our hosting provider (Amazon Web Services) for security and operations. A preference for the French site may be kept in your browser's local storage on your device; it is not transmitted to us.

4. Email correspondence

If you email us (support, privacy, or general inquiries), we receive your address and what you send. We use it to reply and to track the issue, keep correspondence up to 24 months, and never add you to marketing lists or share your address.

5. Your rights

Under PIPEDA you may request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold. Because of Dossier's design, we typically hold nothing about you beyond any email correspondence. We respond within 30 days. If you're unsatisfied, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.

6. Children

Neither the app nor this site is directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

7. Changes

We'll post any changes to this policy here with a new effective date. Material changes to how the app handles data would also be reflected in the App Store and Google Play listings.
