Electronic Renaissance Inc. · Effective September 13, 2026

This website is operated by Electronic Renaissance Inc. (“we”, “us”), a Canadian corporation based in Toronto, Ontario. By using this site or the Dossier app, you agree to these terms.

1. Not tax advice

Dossier — the app and this website — provides general information about record-keeping, not tax, legal, or accounting advice.

Dossier organizes receipts and checks them against published CRA documentation requirements. It does not and cannot know your full tax situation; it does not compute claim amounts, thresholds, or credits; and its checks are conservative suggestions, not a guarantee that any receipt or claim will be accepted by the CRA. A “Captured” or “Captured” status describes a documentation check, not a government approval and not eligibility. Content on this site — including tax-line summaries and guide articles — is provided for general orientation, may become out of date as rules change, and is no substitute for the CRA's own published guidance. Always confirm claims against current CRA guidance on canada.ca or with a qualified professional before you file. No professional relationship of any kind is created by your use of the app or this site.

2. Independence from the CRA

Dossier and Electronic Renaissance Inc. are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Canada Revenue Agency or the Government of Canada. References to the CRA, T1 lines, and CRA publications are for identification of public requirements only.

3. AI features can be wrong

The app extracts and checks receipt details using on-device automated reading. Like any automated system, it can produce incorrect, incomplete, or outdated output — a misread total, a wrong line, a false “Captured.” You are responsible for reviewing every receipt and status before relying on it. Your corrections always take precedence over the AI's reading.

4. Your records remain your responsibility

The CRA can request supporting documents up to six years after you file and has rules for electronic records (IC05-1R1). Dossier stores the files you capture, but you are responsible for keeping your records — including paper originals where required — and for the accuracy of any return you file.

5. The app license: the App Store and Google Play

The Dossier app is licensed, not sold, to you. On iOS, iPadOS, and macOS it is licensed under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, unless a separate license is presented; purchases, refunds, and app distribution are handled by Apple through the App Store.

On Google Play, Electronic Renaissance Inc. grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app on Android devices you own or control, consistent with Google Play's terms; purchases, refunds, and app distribution there are handled by Google through Google Play. Neither Apple nor Google is a party to these terms or responsible for the app.

6. Intellectual property

The Dossier name, mark, icon, and the content and design of this site are the property of Electronic Renaissance Inc. and are protected by law. You may not reproduce them without permission, except as fair dealing permits. Apple trademarks are the property of Apple Inc.; Google Play and Android are trademarks of Google LLC; CRA publications are the property of the Government of Canada.

7. Third-party links

This site links to third-party resources (such as canada.ca, the App Store, and Google Play) for convenience. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content or availability.

8. No warranties

The site and the app are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement — to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that any receipt, record, or claim will be accepted by the CRA or any tax authority.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Electronic Renaissance Inc. will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages — including denied claims, reassessments, penalties, interest, lost refunds, or lost data — arising from your use of the site or the app. Our total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim and CAD $100. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Electronic Renaissance Inc. against claims arising from your misuse of the site or app or your violation of these terms.

11. Changes

We may update these terms; changes take effect when posted here with a new effective date. Your continued use is acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.
